- Storhamar return to the CHL as 2025 Norwegian champions
- Berlin have captured four of the last five DEL titles
- Markus Vikingstad and Andreas Eder are fresh additions for the German side
Storhamar Hamar return to the Champions Hockey League after winning the Norwegian championship, marking their fourth appearance in the competition. It is clear that they will be eager to make a strong impression in front of their home fans when they host the season opener against Eisbären Berlin at the CC Amfi.
Their most recent CHL campaign came last season, where they managed to secure important wins against Fribourg-Gottéron and Lausanne HC but ultimately missed out on the Playoffs.
With Jacob Berglund leading the attack and NHL veteran Andreas Martinsen adding experience, Storhamar confidently believe they can compete with Europe’s top sides.
On the other side of the rink are Eisbären Berlin, who enter this season as the flagship force of German hockey, having captured four of the last five DEL titles. They also reached their first-ever CHL Quarter-Finals in the 2024/25 season, a sign of their growing ambition on the European stage.
Head coach Serge Aubin has at his disposal a talented roster that includes playoff MVP Ty Ronning and long-time defenceman Jonas Müller. To strengthen their offence further, Berlin have two new additions. Markus Vikingstad from Pinguins Bremerhaven and Andreas Eder from Red Bull München.
This opener promises an exciting battle between the Norwegian champions eager to prove themselves against one of Europe’s most in-form teams. Watch for Berglund’s scoring touch for Storhamar and Ronning’s offensive flair for Berlin as both sides aim to start their campaign with a victory.
