- Frölunda look to rebound after first defeat
- Berlin currently sit 18th in the standings with 4 points
- Berlin have lost three straight since opening night
Eisbären Berlin return to the Uber Arena on Tuesday looking to reignite their CHL campaign after a turbulent run through the first four games. The reigning DEL champions opened with a convincing shutout win against Storhamar Hamar but have since stumbled, falling narrowly to KAC Klagenfurt, suffering a heavy defeat to Lukko Rauma, and most recently letting a 3–0 lead slip before losing 5-4 in a shootout to Grenoble. With just four points on the board, Berlin are still in the mix, but their margin for error is shrinking fast.
Frölunda Gothenburg, meanwhile, arrive as one of the competition’s most decorated clubs and have already shown both quality and vulnerability. The Swedes stormed through their first three outings, sweeping aside HC Bolzano, Lausanne HC, and GKS Tychy with a mix of sharp finishing and strong goaltending from Tobias Normann.
However, their perfect start ended in Czechia, where Sparta Prague handed them a 4–2 defeat. Even so, Frölunda remain firmly in control of their playoff push with nine points and plenty of offensive weapons, from Max Friberg to Jacob Peterson.
Tuesday night sets up an interesting clash between two clubs with proud histories and high expectations. Berlin need a response to steady their campaign, while Frölunda will want to prove that their slip-up in Czechia was only a minor bump.
