HC Davos and Vaxjo Lakers both won their opening games, although had different experiences on Game Day 1. HCD were just too good for Cardiff and blew them away 10-1, while Vaxjo came from behind to tie the game in Liberec and then win in Overtime.

"It'll be a completely different game than the one against Cardiff," said Head Coach of Davos Arno Del Curto on the Vaxjo fixture. "Cardiff hasn't played as many games as us and that was a disadvantage for them. Vaxjo are a strong side who will be very dangerous."

Henrik Evertsson, Vaxjo's GM, had this to say about Davos: "Davos will be fun to play against. It is one of Switzerland's biggest teams with a fantastic crowd supporting them in their matches.”
