HV71 Jönköping and Esbjerg Energy will both be looking for their first points of this CHL season on Sunday afternoon. While that’s not hard to believe about Esbjerg, HV71 suffered a stunning loss to Adler Mannheim on home ice on Friday, so will probably not want to take this game lightly.
“Esbjerg has won the Danish championship the last two years and will, therefore, be a tough challenge for us,” HV71 Head Coach Anders Lindbom said about Sunday’s opponents.
While underdogs, Esbjerg definitely want to play a better game than they did in Třinec, where they lost 9-1. Head Coach Mark Pederson said: “We gave them some things. We talked about minimizing second chances and sustained time in our end. Also their power play was very dangerous, we knew it would be, and they scored some goals there as well.”
