- Frölunda cculd qualify with a win and other results going their way
- Vienna in confident mood after win in Aalborg
- Chay Genoway highest-scoring defenceman in the CHL (2+4)
Two-time CHL champions Frölunda Indians could make the playoffs already tonight if they beat the Vienna Capitals in regulation and the result of the Aalborg-ZSC game goes their way.
The Indians avenged last week's defeat in Zurich with a 4-2 win over the Swiss side, to move themselves three points clear at the top of Group A. Defenceman Chay Genoway wears the LGT Top Scorer jersey and is also the most productive d-man in the competition so far this season.
Vienna needed a win in Aalborg and got it with a confidence-boosting 6-1 win as they outplayed their Danish opponents. The Capitals already know that their two games against the ZSC Lions next month will be a showdown for the playoff places, but they can put themselves in a better position by picking up points here on the road.
Across all of the statistical categories, the Capitals are somewhat of a middling team – one that is under-performing, but there's room for someone to stand out. JP Lamoureux had a good night in Aalborg and will need to again in Gothenburg to give his team a chance.
