- Frölunda lead aggregate score 4-1 after first game
- Frölunda seek to return to Semi-Finals after one-year absence
- Kometa seek to advance to Semi-Finals for the first time
With a 4-1 away win in the first leg of their Quarter-Final, the Frölunda Indians have put themselves in good shape to advance to the Semis for the fourth time in five years. Kometa Brno, meanwhile, face an uphill battle if they are to advance to the final four for the first time.
If Kometa are to come back in Gothenburg, they’ll need to get their offence going. So far in the CHL, they’ve had a pretty balanced attack, with Jan Hruška, Peter Mueller, Luboš Horký and Martin Dokečal registering seven points each. Frölunda, meanwhile, will probably concentrate on defence, but they also have no shortage of firepower if they need it, led by all-time CHL leading scorer Ryan Lasch and captain Joel Lundqvist, who are both former CHL MVPs.
Since the first leg, each team has won and lost in their two domestic games. In the SHL, Frölunda lost 7-1 at Örebro and then won 1-0 in a shootout at home to the Växjö Lakers, with Samuel Fagemo netting the shootout-winner and Johan Gustafsson making 16 saves for the shutout. In the Extraliga, meanwhile, Kometa lost 4-3 in overtime at home to Sparta Prague and then won 4-1 in Zlín, with Dočekal scoring twice.
