- Lugano made Round of 16 two years ago
- Indians were in three straight finals before last season
- Swedes in much better domestic form
HC Lugano's prize for eliminating defending champions JYP Jyväsklä on the final Game Day is a home start against two-time champions Frölunda Indians.
The Swiss side find themselves down in eighth place in the National League, moving up one after beating ZSC Lions at the weekend. The team have managed to put some streaks together, unfortunately for them winning ones are usually followed by a few games in a row lost as well. They are however unbeaten in three straight home games, which gives them some confidence going into the Round of 16 tie.
Frölunda, who left the CHL at this stage last season, come in to this game off the back of three straight SHL wins, and have taken at least a point in all bar one of their previous seven. Ryan Lasch and Joel Lundqvist have 29 points between them in 16 games, with their side currently sitting joint top.
