When these two teams met on Saturday in Liberec, Cardiff scored two first period goals before ultimately falling 5-2. The return match in Wales followed an eerily similar script, with the Devils up 2-0 early before Bílí Tygří came back, eventually winning 7-3.
This time, the first two goals came in the first 4:47. First Matthew Myers’s quick shot beat Roman Will short side, and then Patrick Asselin tipped Joey Haddad’s point shot turned the Ice Arena Wales into a madhouse.
The White Tigers went to work, though. They got one back before the end of the first period on the power play courtesy Jan Ordoš, and then two goals 20 seconds apart in the 26th minute put them ahead. Layne Ulmer tied it back up for Cardiff, but just over a minute later, Filip Pyrochta put Liberec up for good, as they never looked back.
The shots on goal were 54-23, with Martin Bakoš recording a hat-trick to lead the parade. With 7 points, Liberec are now 2nd in Group E, and while they’ve been in a couple of their games, the Devils are still in search of their first points.
