For the second time, KAC were seriously challenged by Gap, but managed to withstand their comeback attempt and hold on for the win. With this 4-2 win, Klagenfurt still have a chance at getting the second seed in the group.

Based on the way the game started, it didn’t look like it was going to be close. KAC were up 2-0 after two minutes and 3-0 after 10 minutes. Johannes Bischofberger struck first at 1:17, converting a cross-ice pass from Jonathan Rheault and before Jeffrey Lerg could slide across, and then 21 seconds later Tomas Koch had an easy tap-in. The third goal came on the power play, with Richie Regehr shooting a high shot from the point through a crowd.

The Rapaces closed the gap in the second period, however, from three goals to one, with both goals coming off the stick of Maxwell Ross. His first goal, just after the 23-minute mark, he came out of the penalty box, picked up a loose puck and skated right in on Tomáš Duba, beating him with a backhand over the glove. Then nine minutes later, Ross let go a wrister from the point through a crowd that beat everybody.

With 3:48 to play, Gap had a chance to tie the game when Marco Richter was penalized for high-sticking. However, it was KAC who struck shorthanded, as Lerg missed on a poke-check attempt, leaving Manuel Ganahl an open side to shoot at. And that was it.
