More late drama, this time in Växjö, as the Lakers left it late to come through a see-saw game over Red Bull Salzburg.
When Andrew Calof put the hosts a goal ahead (and level on aggregate) after little more than eight minutes, the visitors probably feared the worst. However, the Austrian team was not going to give up, and two goals in just over three minutes from Brant Harris and Thomas Raffl suddenly had the Red Bulls two goals ahead overall.
A dominant middle period, though, from the Lakers turned the tie back in their favour – Dominik Bokk scoring at 26:16, and then Jonas Røndbjerg at 31:18 making it level on aggregate.
Into the final period and with 48:09 played, the home side then took an aggregate lead – Erik Josefsson with the goal. Yet again, though, the Red Bulls refused to give up – Rob Schremp popping up with the goal at 51:25 to level the tie on aggregate again. However, the visitors were to be heartbroken later on – Elias Pettersson with 3:31 remaining scoring another go-ahead goal for the Lakers to which the Red Bulls this time had no response.
