The Nottingham Panthers are well in contention to qualify from Group F after completing another win over Czech side Mountfield HK - this time after overtime at the National Ice Centre.
After a scoreless first period the deadlock was eventually broken over halfway through the game - Joshua Shalla's shot shaved, but Yann Sauvé was able to poke home the puck in the crease to make it 1-0. Mountfield were, however, in this game quick to respond - Panthers with a man in the box, nice passing from the visitors and Tomáš Zigo tying the game just over two minutes later.
Into the third and the Panthers came out flying. David Clarke capitalised on a terrible turnover in the offensive zone and fired into the net to make it 2-1 at 46:03. Just 1:17 later, the arena erupted as Evan Mosey lit the lamp to make it 3-1. However, penalties were to be the Panthers' undoing - Mountfield pulled a goal back through Filip Jirásek with just over eight minutes to go with the extra man, and then Filip Pavlík tied it under a minute later, again with the Panthers down to four skaters.
To their huge credit, though, the hosts rallied and saw out the game into overtime to claim a point. They went further though just nine seconds in, Sauvé with the wrist shot to send the home fans wild and win the game 4-3.
