Red Bull Munich secured their spot in the CHL Round of 16 with an impressive 4-2 victory away to IFK Helsinki - a result that also eliminated the Finnish club from going any further in this season's competition.
The Red Bulls were never behind in the game, and led for most of it - Steven Pinizzotto gave them the lead with 7:33 played for an ideal start.
It took IFK Helsinki until the latter stages of the middle period to equalize, as Henri Tamminen had them level at 35:05, but just a minute later Brooks Macek put Munich back ahead. Things got worst for the hosts when Mads Christensen struck another 1:30 or so after, putting the visitors 3-1 ahead with 20 minutes to play.
As IFK pushed for a way back into the game they couldn't find a breakthrough. Eventually, Patrick Hager got the empty net goal to seal the win with 56 seconds remaining.
