- Second meeting of the season between TPS Turku and Red Bull Munich
- Mads Christensen helped Red Bull to a huge 5 – 1 win in the first meeting with five points
- TPS are still searching for their first points following opening game losses to Munich and Malmö
The third set of games in Group B of the Champions Hockey League with TPS Turku of Finland taking on Red Bull Munich in rematch of what was a huge powerplay performance by Munich in a 5 – 1 victory last weekend.
Mads Christensen put up three goals and two assists in a performance that saw him take control of the top scorer spot, while TPS will be out for revenge as they could run the risk of not qualifying out of the group stage for the second year in a row.
Despite a shaky start for Munich who narrowly picked up the points against Yunost Minsk in game one, they’ve really come into their own after game two, with one of the best offenses of the tournament so far.
They’ll look to rely on their powerplay unit again on Thursday night, with Christensen being the main threat, while Trevor Parkes and John Mitchell have both played their part in Munich’s success so far.
TPS on the other hand, return home after a dismal road trip saw them fail to pick up any points, and with the home crowd behind them they’ll hope that provides the much-needed spark as they come into these crucial must win games over the next couple of days.
The Malmö Redhawks were too much for them on the opening day, defeating the Finnish side 8 – 4 thanks to a great second period, and penalty trouble cost them the game in Munich on Sunday night.
Head Coach Kalle Kaskinen will need a much improved performance from his team this time around, and will have an important decision to make on who gets the start in net between Henrik Haukeland and Rasmus Tirronen, who both will need to improve to help the Finns to a win.
