An unusual situation for the Vienna Capitals, who return to home ice in the CHL knowing that anything other than a win could seriously scupper their plans to make the next round.
Losses to Grono in overtime and JYP see them last in the group, but home-ice advantage is something Head Coach Serge Aubin thinks they can capitalize on. "We played well against JYP, especially compared to the game against Grodno we skated for 60 minutes and worked hard," he explained. "Now we're on home ice, have our fans behind, so we need to use that."
JYP, on the other hand, took the maximum 6 points from their pair of games in Jyväskylä to top the group. "We struggled a bit against them in the last game, especially as they have a lot of North American players they play with a lot of intensity," said Head Coach Marko Virtanen. "But that's the diversity of this competition."
