- Whoever comes out on top over remaining two games will qualify
- Still possibility of a three-way tie in Group A
- Aubin faces former team
The last two Group A games between the ZSC Lions and Vienna Capitals will decide who qualifies for the next round. While neither can go through tonight, both will want to get an early advantage. Serge Aubin, now coaching the Lions, faces his former side for the first time.
ZSC have won their last three games and sit fourth in the National League - conceding only four goals in those last three and scoring nine. That came after just one win in their opening four games in which the team scored only five goals. Maxim Noreau leads the team domestically with three goals so far.
Vienna are already running away with the EBEL regular season, having not lost and only dropped one point in a shootout win on Sunday. 23 points out of a possible 24 in eight matches is quite a feat under new Head Coach Dave Cameron. Peter Schneider has 12 points (3+9) for the Capitals domestically, while Chris DeSousa and Benjamin Nissner have four goals each.
