- Villach seven men short due to illness
- Martin Kasparlik scores first two goals for Cracovia
- Both teams on par with shots taken
This debut match for Comarch Cracovia and Villach SV was off to a rather slow start with not much action happening until Martin Kasperlik opened up the scoring putting the first point on the board for Cracovia during a powerplay.
Cracovia would only hold onto that lead for a quick minute, as Patrik Husak got called for interference, giving Villach their moment to score the equalizer, which is exactly what Blaž Tomaževič did, with the assist by Robert Sabolič.
Tempers started to flare as both teams tried to grab a lead, with Cracovia’s Roman Rác and Villach’s Maximilian Rebernig both sent off for roughing.
The second period started with both teams facing new penalties. The home team’s goaltender Rok Stojanovic was called for tripping and Villach’s Kevin Moderer for hooking, with neither team able to make something happen during their powerplay.
Cracovia’s goalkeeper Rok Stojanovic had his work cut out for him in the second period as he managed to defend his net against the onslaught of shots taken by Villach. As his teammates came to his aid, two more calls for roughing were made, one for Villach’s Andrew Desjardins and Cracovia’s Marek Račuk.
Martin Kasperlik came back with his second goal of the night, assisted by Patryk Wronka and Daniel Krejčí.
The visitors scooped up their second goal from Nicolas Mattinen during a 5-on-3 powerplay, evening out the scoreboard late into the second period.
Raising the roof to the rafters, Roman Rác made it a 3:2 lead for Cracovia at 48:34. The insurance marker followed with an empty netter by Mateusz Michalski.
With a final score of 4:2, Cracovia secure their first CHL win!
