- Six different scorers for Zug
- Brian O'Neill with one goal, two assists
- Anthony Rech was the lone goal-scorer for Turku
Peter Cehlárik potted the game-winner and Luca Hollenstein stopped 18 of 19 shots as EV Zug garnered five points out of six on home ice with their 6-1 final over TPS Turku.
6:03 into the first, Lino Martschini netted his 24th career CHL goal in his 49th career CHL game to open the scoring for the Swiss. Brian O'Neill shrugged off a Turku defenceman behind the Finnish net and found Martschini parked above the blue paint to put it past Eetu Anttila.
Turku briefly set up camp in their offensive zone in the closing minutes of the initial stanza, but Luca Hollenstein stood tall to preserve his club's lead heading into the second period.
O'Neill found himself on the scoresheet again as a giveaway in the opening minutes of the second would lead to Zug's second of the game. The American intercepted a puck in the slot and found Cehlárik who wristed it past Anttila.
It took the home side 59 seconds to score in the second but only 40 seconds to score in the third as Zug stretched their lead to three. Niklas Hansson walked into a sliding puck in the slot and ripped it passed the Finnish netminder to cushion the lead for a second time on the night.
The Finnish side failed to contain the Swiss as the period went on and at 47:55, Zug struck again with Fabrice Herzog rifling one by Anttila to make it 4-0. 5-0 would come a couple minutes later when Brian O'Neill converted on Hansson's pass.
But the Swiss weren't done there.
Having scored all five at equal strength, it was only a matter of time before they lit the lamp on the man-advantage and that's exactly what they did 1:12 after O'Neill's marker as Gregory Hofmann secured his first of the competition.
The Finns finally got on the scoresheet on the powerplay when a bobbled puck bounced off the shoulder of Hollenstein and in. Anthony Rech was the last to touch it and was credited with spoiling the Swiss netminder's shutout bid.
That would be it, though, as Zug would go on to win against the Finnish side by another landslide and push their win streak to four games.
