- Färjestad continued to dominate at both 5-on-5 and special teams play
- Cracovia's Damian Kapica netted his first of the season
- Färjestad cement their Round of 16 bid with the win
Hosts Färjestad Karlstad earned their fourth win and handed Comarch Cracovia their fourth loss in a decisive 5-1 decision to guarantee their place in the Round of 16.
Färjestad drew first blood courtesy of Anton Berglund who netted his first of the season at 5:05 of the opening frame. After a battle along the boards, the puck found its way to Marcus Westfält who whipped it cross-ice to a wide open Berglund who made no mistake.
Later in the first, it would be Patrik Lundh sliding one past Rok Stojanovic to pad the Swedes' lead heading into the second. Lundh, skating in his first game, initiated the play by creating a turnover in the offensive zone. After receiving the puck, Daniel Viksten sent a pass to Lundh who sent it to the back of Cracovia's net.
The hosts made it 3-0 four minutes into the second when some cycling down low led to Viksten circling around the net before rifling it far side past Stojanovic.
Just when it looked like this was going to be a runaway for the Swedes, Cracovia went ahead and made it 3-1 thanks to Damian Kapica's beautiful backhand, forehand deke on Dennis Hildeby after being sprung on a breakaway by Aleš Ježek. Kapica's first of the season gave the visitors some life heading into the third.
But what little energy the Polish side had would be wiped away when August Tornberg scored at 46:11 of the third. The home side would add to their lead on the powerplay five minutes later on a Remi Elie tally to make it 5-1 which is where the score would stand as the final horn sounded.
