- Rögle's powerplay capitalised once again
- Zurich scored in the dying minutes to tie it up
- The Swedes cement themselves in top place of Group D
This chess match of a game between Rögle Ängelholm and ZSC Lions Zurich ended with the Swedish side taking it by a 3-2 final in OT to secure their bid for the top place in their Group.
The Swedes took the early lead off a rebound two and a half minutes into the first when Riley Sheen picked up his fifth tally of the tournament on a backhand bid. Sheen found himself at the top of the blue paint where he shoveled the puck past Šimon Hrubec to give his team the advantage.
Rögle's powerplay continued to shine as, with just under six minutes to play in the middle stanza, Dennis Everberg cashed in on the man-advantage to extend his club's lead. Adam Tambellini delivered a crisp pass to Everberg's stick blade which redirected the puck past Hrubec for the forward's first goal of the season.
Trailing by two to start the third, the Swiss side started mounting the pressure on their hosts leading to Sven Andrighetto cutting the deficit in half thanks to a tip in front which beat Christoffer Rifalk glove side.
The hosts looked to take a two-goal lead with less than five minutes to go in the final frame, but a goalie interference call would cost the Swedish side their cushion, leaving the score 2-1.
This would come to haunt Rögle a little later on as Zurich roared back with less than two minutes to go to tie the match up. Andrighetto's shot from the point pinballed around the crease where Juho Lammikko picked up the loose change to put it past Rifalk to knot things at two a piece.
Despite giving up the late goal, however, the Swedes would take control in the extra session and seal the victory on a goal by Oskar Stål Lyrenäs. An errant pass in the Zurich zone gave Lyrenäs the time and space he needed to skate in, pick his spot and lift his team over the Swiss.
