- Lukko's Linus Nyman scored twice
- Shots were 26-18 in favour of the Finns
- Lukko earn six out of six points through first two Game Days
Lukko Rauma secured three more points with their 6-2 win over Danish challenger the Aalborg Pirates at Sparekassen Danmark Isarena on Game Day 2.
The Danes and Finns delivered an exciting first period of hockey for the home fans as Lukko potted two but then Aalborg cut their deficit in half with a late-period powerplay tally.
Linus Nyman broke the ice eight minutes in when he wired one over the shoulder of Albert Adamsen from the slot. Minutes later, Tarmo Reunanen made it a 2-0 contest after some cycling down low guided the puck to the point and to Reunanen who lasered it to the back of the net.
With four minutes left in the period, the Danes' powerplay made its debut and the hosts capitalised on the opportunity courtesy of a deflection in front from Pierre-Olivier Morin.
Second period play began with another powerplay for Aalborg, but the hosts were unable to match the results of their initial chance.
Instead, Lukko would reclaim their two-goal lead at 24:48. Nyman received a pass from the defensive zone before skating in one-on-one against Adamsen and fluttering one past his glove for the Finn's second of the game.
Later, some pretty passing led to Ponthus Westerholm extending his club's lead to 4-1 on the powerplay as the visitors continued putting pressure on the opposing netminder in the middle stanza.
Two quick goals followed, one by the Finns and then a response by Aalborg.
Reunanen secured his second on a wrister to give Lukko a 5-1 edge, but the Danes came right back with an answer from Calder Brooks 19 seconds later.
Lukko found the net once again on the powerplay to make it 6-2 when Jami Krannila beat Adamsen with a one-timer at 46:15 to increase the goal gap to four.
As time winded down in the final frame, Aalborg attempted a pushback, but Lukko's structured play prevented the hosts from accomplishing any sustained offensive attack as the Finns dominated play from end to end in this lopsided affair in Denmark.
