- Biel-Bienne scored in all three periods
- 2 goals for Fabio Hofer and 4 points for Ville Pokka
- The home team scored 3 powerplay goals
This was a very one-sided game between EHC Biel-Bienne and HC Innsbruck as the hosts scored three in the first, two in the second and one in the third to beat the Austrians a whopping 6-1.
The goal-scoring started just shy of the five minute marker when Luca Hischier broke the deadlock. Biel-Bienne's second of the game came some seven minutes later when Toni Rajala found the back of the net on the powerplay.
The hosts would score a second powerplay goal within the opening 20 minutes following a tripping call for Nathanael Halbert.
The goal fest carried into the second period, with Biel-Bienne scoring two more to go five up against Innsbruck. Corey Mackin scored the sole goal of the game for the Austrians, tapping in a rebound with just two seconds of the middle frame left.
With the score at a very harsh 5-1, the third period started. Rather unsurprisingly, the action was slow with nobody doing much for the first seven minutes. Biel-Bienne did eventually get into the groove of things and added their sixth and final goal of the game as the clock struck 10 minutes remaining.
The rest of the game saw the puck stay in front of Innsbruck's goalie, with the hosts keeping Innsbruck locked in their zone. Innsbruck had a handful of breakaway chances but nothing that would change the tide of this game.
Fabio Hofer recorded two on the night, while teammate Ville Pokka picked up four assists.
