- Peter Mueller had 1G+3A in 14:31 TOI
- Matěj Machovský earned his first shutout
- Ingolstadt dropped their third consecutive contest
With a place in the Playoffs on the line for Vítkovice Ridera, the Czechs put forth a dominant effort against ERC Ingolstadt, defeating the German side 5-0 to qualify for the Round of 16. Matěj Machovský secured his first shutout of the season as he stopped all 33 shots while Peter Mueller notched four points, including Vítkovice's eighth powerplay tally.
Scoring started when an outlet pass up the boards sent Mueller and Roberts Bukarts into the Ingolstadt end on a 2-on-1 where Muller threaded the needle to set up Bukarts who fired it far side over the stick of Lukas Schulte at 13:22.
Late in the period, the Czechs' one-goal lead became a two-goal advantage when Vítkovice added a second marker with just one second remaining courtesy of Lukáš Kovář's persistence. Kovář parked himself at the top of the crease where he jammed away at a loose puck that eventually made its way to the back of the net. Ingolstadt would challenge the play but it ultimately stood.
Second period play continued with neither side being able to make much happen as both netminders put on a goaltending clinic for much of the period.
But with a little over six minutes left to play in the middle frame, it was Bukarts exploiting Schulte's stick side once again to register his second of the night and give his team a three-goal cushion.
Ingolstadt would go on their third powerplay to close out the period but Vítkovice's PK continued its successful run, protecting the Czechs' 3-0 lead heading into the final frame.
The visitors extended their lead in the third, netting two 20 seconds apart.
First, a costly turnover resulted in the Czechs' fourth goal on the night. This time is was Bukarts and Mueller setting up Peter Krieger in close for his first of the campaign. Moments later, Mueller mustered his fourth point when he made it a 5-0 contest on the powerplay.
With time winding down, Ingolstadt continued to apply pressure on Vítkovice's netminder, but Machovský was up to the task turning aside every opportunity as the Czechs went on to secure their fourth victory and keep their season alive.
