- Pardubice take a two-goal aggregate lead back home
- Lukáš Radil: 2G+1A; Tomáš Zohorna: 1G+2A for Pardubice
- Ilves went 1-for-4 on the powerplay
Visiting side Dynamo Pardubice potted one in the first period and two more in the second to take a two-goal aggregate lead over Ilves Tampere with a 3-1 final in the First Game. Both clubs will meet again in Pardubice next week for the Return Game.
Some disciplinary problems on the part of the Czechs awarded Ilves their first powerplay of the night and the Finns used it to their advantage, drawing first blood off a one-timer from Ville Meskanen. Šimon Stránský fed the puck to Meskanen who rocketed it into the back of the net from the far circle for his second of the campaign.
Late in the period, the Czechs would answer back when Tomáš Zohorna sprung Lukáš Radil with an outlet pass from his own zone allowing Radil to skate to the top of the near circle and let rip a slapshot that beat Jakub Málek cleanly. The period ended with not much fanfare as the clubs headed into the middle stanza tied at 1-1.
Start of the second saw a great chance on one side and a goal on the other as Zohorna registered his second point and first tally of the night after corralling the puck, dusting it off and lasering it into the net to make it a 2-1 game at 21:35.
Pardubice secured another late-period marker and, again, it was Radil who found twine for his second of the contest. Robert Kousal engineered a rush up ice where he eventually found Radil who made a nifty move to his backhand before tucking the puck between the pads of Málek to give his club a two-goal cushion.
Third period play picked up with Ilves generating all kinds of opportunities in an attempt to claw their way back into the game, but Pardubice's defence matched their effort. For his part, Roman Will was excellent in net as he managed to turn aside 24 of the Finns' 25 shot attempts on the night to help his team solidify their advantage as they prepare for their rematch on home ice.
