The Rapperswil-Jona Lakers earned their second straight win while Tappara Tampere suffered their second straight defeat as the Swiss side took this one at home by a 4-2 final. With the win, the Swiss now have eight points through five games and are currently on the inside of the Playoff picture.

Nico Dünner netted the first of two first-period goals 3:47 into the contest as Rapperswil had their legs going early. Dünner's third of the season was then followed up by Tyler Moy who also registered his third of the campaign to make it a 2-0 game on the powerplay near the midway mark of the period.

Tappara forced Robin Meyer into action a few times, but it was the Swiss who dominated play throughout the opening period and held a 13-7 edge in shot attempts after the first 20 minutes.

The second period saw several missed opportunities from both sides as the Finns and the Swiss each had powerplay opportunities that failed to convert.

Rapperswil had the better of the chances with Tappara taking two consecutive penalties, but Christian Heljanko was there to bail the visitors out and with no one finding the net in the middle frame, the hosts carried their two-goal lead into the final stanza.

Early in the third, Rapperswil would add to their advantage courtesy of a Dominic Lammer goal. Lammer received a drop pass from Moy before firing it past the stick of Heljanko to give his club a three-goal cushion.

Momentum, however, started to shift in Tappara's favour midway through the third when the visitors scored two goals in quick succession.

Carter Camper got the visitors on the board at the 11:11 minute mark when he finished off a no-look feed from Otto Somppi to bring the deficit to two. Then, moments later, Heikki Liedes cut into the lead once more on a brilliant individual effort in front to make it 3-2 with over nine minutes still to play in regulation.

Tappara continued to push the pace as the clock wound down in the third, but the Swiss withstood the surge and even secured an empty-netter off the stick of Sandro Forrer to earn their second victory in as many games and gain valuable ground in the standings.
