- Jakob Silfverberg opened scoring for Brynäs in the first period
- Brynäs outshot Zurich 36-23
- Flawless performance by Collin Delia who notches his first shutout of the season
Hosts Brynäs IF collected their third-straight win of the Regular Season, besting ZSC Lions Zurich 2-0. 31-year-old American netminder Collin Delia was flawless for his side, stopping all 23 shots by the 2024/25 CHL Champions.
The host side came out of the gate hard with a dominant first period, outshooting Zurich 10-7. Jakob Silfverberg lit the lamp at 9:06 after picking up his own rebound to make it 1-0.
Moments later, Zurich netminder Šimon Hrubec shut down a second attempt, a two-on-one that closed with a one-time bullet by Anton Rödin.
A phenomenal opportunity for the visiting side came through Derek Grant, who traversed the puck right into the slot, however, netminder Delia gloved down the attempt to hold the lead of the home side before the period intermission.
Flawless goaltending characterised the second stanza, with both sides trading chances, the plays were clean, fast and continuous. Zurich's special teams got a test run on account of an interference call on Aron Dahlqvist, but couldn't convert.
Zurich came close through the wristshot of Swedish forward Jesper Frödén, but Delia's glove was proving to be unbeatable. The period would close with almost even shots on goal, and the game very much up for grabs.
Less than a minute into the third period, Brynäs got their first powerplay of the night, and drilled the net of Hrubec mercilessly for two solid minutes of man-advantage time. Hrubec was rock solid, staving off every attempt.
Rödin sealed the game at 57:28 with an unassisted wristshot over the blocker side of Hrubec. The Swiss countered, pulling their goalie in a last-ditch effort, but Zurich were out of time. The victory is Brynäs' third-straight, while Zurich will look to regroup in their next match.
