- Morand & Beaucage: each 1 goal & 1 assist for Lukko
- Jonas Müller: 4 blocked shots, TOI for Berlin
- Shots on goal: Berlin 21 - 25 Lukko
The two teams entered the game in the German capital with three points each but visiting Lukko Rauma scored a convincing 6-2 win over Eisbären Berlin to help them in their bid for the CHL Playoffs. Linemates Antoine Morand and Alex Beaucage had two points each and 36-year-old netminder Antti Raanta made a number of great saves while the score was still close.
Lukko jumped out to a 2-0 first-period lead on a couple of long-range missiles.
First it was Steven Jandric with a shot from the point that beat Jonas Stettmer high to the glove side less than five minutes in. Then, in the 13th minute, Eric Gélinas’ wrister from just inside the blueline tipped off a Berlin stick and sailed through a crowd in front of the net and in.
Berlin’s Ty Ronning had a great chance to score close to the first period’s midpoint but was robbed in close by the glove of Raanta. In the final minute of the period, however, he broke through. On the powerplay, Frederik Tiffels circled the net and found Ronning, whose one-timer from close range beat the veteran goalie on the short side.
The game was close after one, but three straight Lukko goals broke it open in the second.
Morand scored from a sharp angle, picked the top corner on the powerplay and Anton Olsson scored off the rush, finding the far corner past Stettmer’s glove. At that point, Stettmer was lifted in favour of backup goalie Jake Hildebrand.
With the outcome pretty much decided, Jakob Stenqvist gave Lukko a 6-1 lead and Andreas Eder got one back for Berlin.
