- Jacob Peterson - 2G; 14:53 TOI
- Lausanne allowed four or more goals for a second straight game
- Frölunda have only allowed 2 goals through 120 minutes of play
Three goals in the third helped Frölunda Gothenburg to their second victory as they toppled Lausanne HC in a 5-2 decision that was highlighted by a two-goal night for 26-year-old Jacob Peterson.
Peterson recorded his first of the campaign when he claimed a lead feed from Jere Innala before tucking it under the right pad of Kevin Pasche to make it 1-0 at 5:18 in the first. The hosts extended their lead when Peterson once again found the back of the net as he kicked an errant puck to his stick before sliding it to the backhand and over the left shoulder of the Swiss netminder.
Second-period action began with Lausanne halving the deficit when Erik Brännström hammered a one-timer from the point. The goal was initially reviewed for goaltender interference, but would stand. Moments later, the Swiss secured their second when Yannick Zehnder found the puck after it popped up off of Lars Johansson's pads and slid it home for his first of the tournament.
Frölunda broke the deadlock six minutes into the final period when Max Westergård powered his way towards the near post before sliding a pass back to Nicklas Lasu who guided it into the net to reclaim the Swedes' advantage. Noah Hasa gave the home side some insurance a couple of minutes later when he tucked home another slick feed from Westergård near the top of the paint.
Filip Cederqvist eventually made it 5-2 on the powerplay when he deflected it past Pasche, and with that the game concluded with the Swedes authoring yet another impressive win in their return to the CHL.
