- Frölunda netted four in the second period
- Victor Ejdsell - 1G, 1A, 5 shots in 17:36 TOI for Bern
- The Swedes have now won three out of their last four contests
Four goals in the second period were enough for Frölunda Gothenburg to manufacture another win and finish the Regular Season with a 5-1 record as they defeated SC Bern by a 4-3 final. Bern, meanwhile, hadn't suffered a loss since Game Day 3 and sit with a 3-3 record on the season.
A hard-fought battle between Frölunda and Bern left both scoreless as the first period came to a close. Then in the second, the battle continued with neither club flinching until the hosts found themselves on the powerplay where Dominik Egli found the net to draw first blood.
Egli and Arttu Ruotsalainen played catch near the tops of the circles as the 27-year-old received the pass back and one-timed it between the pads of Adam Reideborn for his second of the tournament.
Moments later, Frölunda converted twice in quick succession. Ivar Stenberg extended his side's lead with a wrister between the hashmarks and Henrik Tömmernes made it a 3-0 game after he slipped one past the opposing netminder.
Bern eventually found an answer to Tobias Normann when Emil Bemström ripped a one-timer home on the powerplay after a dandy cross-ice feed from Victor Ejdsell, bringing the goal deficit back down to two.
But the hosts were quick to capitalise on their own chance near the 39-minute mark when Filip Hasa sashayed his way between the circles and rifled it to regain Frölunda's three-goal edge.
Things became a bit more interesting 1:30 into the third period when Ejdsell engineered a brilliant deflection to give him his second point and the Swiss two goals with only nine shots on net.
With just over three minutes left in regulation, Bern opted for the extra attacker. Marco Müller would score one more for the Swiss with ten seconds left on the clock, but that would do it as Frölunda went on to win their second straight while Bern dropped for a third time.
