- Matija Pintarič was the difference-maker for Grenoble
- Linus Weissbach: 1G, 1A in 14:26 TOI
- Frölunda held the shots advantage 33-17
Isac Heens scored the go-ahead goal for Frölunda Gothenburg, who will return home with a two-goal aggregate advantage over Grenoble in their Round of 16 series. Both netminders played their part in a hard-fought contest that leaves each squad still with a chance to advance to the Quarter-Finals.
Frölunda gained their first lead nine minutes into the affair when Jacob Peterson converted on the powerplay. Jere Innala made a slap pass to Peterson, who was able to deflect the puck past Matija Pintarič. The French attempted to mount some pressure, but to no avail, as they headed down the tunnel still trailing after the first 20 minutes.
Another goal wouldn't come until 38:22 of the contest, but it was Grenoble grabbing the equaliser when Aurélien Dair finished off a pretty passing play just above the blue paint. Matias Bachelet gained control of the puck atop the crease before turning and sliding it to Dair who secured his third tally of the tournament.
The Swedes reclaimed the lead mere minutes into the third period when Heens potted his first of the tournament to make it a 2-1 game. The defenceman demonstrated nice hands and high hockey IQ when he was able to find some space and then lift a defender's stick to gain control of the puck before propelling it off his backhand and into the back of the net.
Linus Weissbach added a third tally to their total in a game that saw Pintarič carry the club on his back. Despite being heavily outshot, the French find themselves only down a pair as they regroup for the Return Game in Sweden next week where Frölunda will play host.
