- First two periods remained goalless
- Kohout sent off following headbutt incident
- Four-goal third period secures Mountfield’s victory
Mountfield HK travelled to the Italian Alps to face HC Bolzano on Game Day 4 of the Champions Hockey League. With both sides battling for much-needed points, only one would leave with the result they were hoping for and it ended up being the Czech visitors.
The opening twenty minutes produced no goals. Both teams created promising chances, but neither goaltender was beaten. The period was played at a quick pace with few stoppages and no penalties, though both Bolzano and Hradec struggled to sustain pressure in the offensive zone.
The second period also finished scoreless, despite Mountfield being the more active side in shots. Late in the frame, they put themselves in serious trouble when Martin Kohout headbutted an opponent and, after video review, was handed a five-minute major and a game misconduct. Mountfield survived the closing minutes of the penalty but still faced three more on the kill to start the third.
Instead of faltering, Mountfield took control in the final frame, scoring four unanswered goals while Filip Novotný recorded the shutout in an impressive 4–0 win. The breakthrough came at 45:10 when Alex Tamáši fired home a wrist shot from the slot. Just half a minute later, still on the powerplay, Aleš Jergl unleashed a rocket from the right circle that picked out the top corner.
Two more goals followed in the closing minutes. Petr Hašek set up the first, firing from the left circle, and although Samuel Harvey made the save, Alex Gašo was on hand to bury the rebound for 3–0. Then, with fifteen seconds remaining, Pavel Šimek collected the puck and rifled it into the top of the net to complete the win for the Czech side.
