- Game went to overtime after 2–2 regulation draw
- Victory not enough for Swiss side to reach Round of 16
- Mountfield also fail to qualify for the Playoffs
Lausanne HC hosted Mountfield HK for their sixth and final game of the Champions Hockey League Regular Season. With both teams desperate for points to keep their Playoff hopes alive, both put up a battle.
The opening period produced a single goal at 15:05, when Drake Caggiula tipped Erik Brännström’s shot on the powerplay to give the hosts the lead. Mountfield also created several dangerous chances of their own, but couldn’t find a way past Lausanne´s netminder.
In the second period, Mountfield drew level at 29:45 as Patrik Miškář deflected Graeme McCormack’s drive from the slot. However, Lausanne regained control late in the frame when Dominik Kahun received the puck in the right circle, took his time, and buried a precise shot to restore the hosts’ lead.
The third period saw Petr Hašek bring Mountfield back into contention. Skating in from the left boards, he fired a sharp wrist shot that beat the goaltender above the pad and inside the post to make it 2-2. No further goals followed, sending the contest to overtime.
Just under three minutes into the extra frame, Ahti Oksanen delivered the decisive blow, finding the back of the net to secure Lausanne’s 3-2 victory. Despite the win, it wasn’t enough for the Swiss side to progress to the Round of 16.
