- Luleå earn first points of the season
- Bern suffer first loss of the campaign
- Swedes scored three unanswered goals to claim win
Luleå Hockey followed up their Game Day 1 loss with a Game Day 2 win as they defeated SC Bern by a final of 4-2. After falling behind 2-1, the Swedes would go on to score three unanswered tallies to earn their first victory of the campaign and a big one at that.
The hosts struck first with a snipe from Filip Eriksson at 15:45. Isac Hedqvist retrieved on a loose puck in the neutral zone and snapped it to Eriksson who went it on a partial breakaway where he fired it high-glove side for his second tally in as many games.
Luleå had a chance to extend their lead near the midway mark of the second period when Anton Levtchi was awarded a penalty shot, but his opportunity was denied by the left pad of Adam Reideborn.
A fortuitous bounce enabled Thierry Schild to find himself behind the defence, where he secured the equaliser at 28:05, backhanding it through the five-hole of Isak Sörqvist. Waltteri Merelä matched his teammate's strategy soon after, guiding one between the pads of the Swedish netminder, to give his club the lead while Bern were down a man.
With under three minutes to go in the middle stanza, Brian O'Neill leveled the score at 2-2 on the powerplay. O'Neill received a feed in the neutral zone before skating down the far wing and wristing it past Reideborn from the far circle.
Edvin Hammarlund gave Luleå their second lead of the night when he fluttered one from the point through traffic and just under the bar. Markus Nurmi capped off the club's win with an empty-netter as Luleå redeemed themselves at home.
