- Four different players scored for Lukko
- Lausanne were foiled by their own undisciplined play
- Steven Jandric scored the game-winner on a penalty shot
Lukko Rauma secured their first win of the 2025/26 Champions Hockey League campaign with a 4-1 decision over Lausanne HC. The Finns took the lead in the first and would eventually extend it in the third to skate away with the win.
Lukko's Mikael Ruohomaa was called for hooking at 6:46, awarding Lausanne their first powerplay opportunity which they made good on. Austin Czarnik slid the puck to Drake Caggiula who then found Théo Rochette in the slot where Rochette wired a one-timer under the glove of Antti Raanta.
The hosts evened things up when they secured their first of the night on their third powerplay chance. Eric Gélinas passed the puck to a lingering Jakob Stenqvist who shot it through traffic where it was deflected off a Lausanne defender's skate and into the net.
Moments later, Steven Jandric's patience on a penalty shot made it a 2-1 endeavour in favour of the Finns. Jandric out-waited and out-stretched Connor Hughes before gliding the puck between the far post and his right pad.
Lukko would extend their lead from one goal to three goals, netting two in the third en route to their 4-1 victory. The first came courtesy of Atte Joki who found twine when Antoine Morand found him parked in the slot for a wicked one-timer. Alex Beaucage secured the home side's final tally as he sailed a wrister past the stick side of Hughes.
What was a close contest for the better part of two periods ended with a convincing win for one and a crushing defeat for the other as Lukko earned ever-valuable points in their pursuit of the European Trophy.
