- Shots on goal: 50-16 for Mountfield
- Jonathan Brinkman Andersen: 2 goals for Odense
- Alex Tamáši: goal, 3 SOG, 71.43% on face-offs for Mountfield
Despite trailing by two goals late in the third period and getting outplayed, the Odense Bulldogs came back to beat Mountfield HK 4-3 in a shootout.
Mountfield generated some good offensive pressure on the game’s first powerplay and scored the game’s first goal five seconds after it expired, although due to a favourable bounce – a shot by Alex Tamáši hit the stick of an Odense defender, bounced up in the air and landed behind goaltender Niklas Lundström at 8:21.
The Bulldogs tied it late in the first period. An initial shot from Maksim Popovic hit the goalpost and Mountfield players were unable to clear. After a few whacks at the puck, Georgs Golovkovs finally connected.
In the second period, Mountfield killed off a penalty and then scored just six seconds into their second man advantage on a blistering shot by Aleš Jergl.
The shots were 15-3 Mountfield in the middle frame and they thought they’d gone up by two when Ondřej Dlapa slid the puck under Lundström. However, the play was ruled offside upon video review and it remained 2-1.
In the second minute of the third period, Oskars Batna gave Mountfield a bit of breathing room when he re-directed Connor Bunnaman’s shot past Lundström.
That would be short-lived, however, as a pair of Jonathan Brinkman Andersen goals tied the score.
A defensive lapse allowed the Bulldogs back within one with less than seven minutes to play. The puck came out of the corner and found an unmarked Andersen, who slid a backhander past Stanislav Škorvánek.
Then 2:40 later, Joakim Thelin’s initial shot from the boards was stopped by Škorvánek but Andersen was in front and put the rebound over the top of him.
After a scoreless overtime period and five goalless shootout rounds, Thelin scored in the sixth round to complete the comeback.
