- Lukko netted three unanswered goals in the third
- Markus Røhnebæk Stensrud kept his club close with 33 saves on 36 shots
- Eric Gélinas scored the go-ahead goal
Storhamar Hamar were the recipients of a couple of tallies but their implosion in the third led to an explosion of offence from Lukko Rauma who tallied three unanswered goals in the final frame to take a one-goal advantage back to Finland for the clubs' Return Game of the Round of 16 next week.
A broken play led to a deflection in front and, all of a sudden, the Norwegian side found themselves with a 1-0 lead. Sander Dilling Hurrød pinched down the near walls where he intercepted the puck before firing it towards the net where Jacob Berglund redirected it past Antti Raanta to open the scoring.
A quick tap-in and a perfect set-up extended the hosts' advantage at the 34-minute mark. Berglund found himself on the scoresheet a second time when he dished a cross-ice feed to Austin Cangelosi who found twine for his second of the season.
34 seconds into the final frame, however, Lukko gave themselves some life when Alex Beaucage registered his fifth of the season as he lasered a one-timer past Markus Røhnebæk Stensrud on the powerplay. Steven Jandric then broke through to knot things at 2-2 moments later with his own tap-in at the top of the crease. A purposeful pass from Alexander Peters found Jandric's stick on the ice as the forward guided it home.
The Finns would go on to score their third unanswered goal of the period courtesy of Eric Gélinas and, after trailing for two periods, an excellent effort in the third secured a one-goal aggregate advantage for Lukko.
