- Sparta striked first on the powerplay at 11:42
- Storhamar scored three unanswered goals in the second period
- The Czechs pressed late but were denied by strong goaltending
Storhamar Hamar welcomed Sparta Prague to CC Amfi for Game Day 2 of the Champions Hockey League. With the Norwegians desperate to bounce back and Sparta aiming for another three points, the game had much to offer.
The opening period delivered plenty of action. Sparta struck first on the powerplay at 11:42 when a rebound fell to Roman Horák by the left post. He found Michal Řepík in the slot, and the captain fired high over the Norwegian goalie’s shoulder to make it 1-0.
Storhamar responded just four minutes later, also on the man advantage. Andreas Martinsen carried the puck deep into the corner and sent a pinpoint pass to Jacob Berglund, who had too much space and rifled it past Josef Kořenář to tie the game. The deadlock lasted less than a minute, however, as Horák finished off a two-on-one rush to restore Sparta’s lead.
The second period completely turned the tide. Storhamar went on a scoring surge, netting three unanswered goals through Axel Sandnes, Jacob Berglund and Martin Rønnild. Each strike came from dangerous chances in the slot, as Sparta’s defence struggled to contain the pressure. Suddenly, the Norwegians held a two-goal cushion heading into the second intermission.
Sparta pushed hard in the third, firing shots from all angles, but they couldn’t solve Storhamar’s goaltender. When the final buzzer sounded, the home side could celebrate a 4-2 victory and their first three points of the season.
