- The Swedish side maintained their perfect record
- Tychy only managed 15 total shots on net
- Frölunda have kept all their opponents to 2 or fewer goals so far this season
What could have been a surprising upset turned into their third loss as GKS Tychy fell to Frölunda Gothenburg 3-1 with the Swedes successfully securing 9 out of 9 possible points so far this campaign.
Outstanding forechecking from the Polish side resulted in them taking a 1-0 lead as Hannu Kuru released a one-timer from the tops of the circles to get his team on the board.
At one point, shots stood 18-5 in favour of Frölunda as the Swedes continued to hem their opponents in their own zone, but Tychy's Tomáš Fučík continued to thwart any and all chances they had of finding the equaliser.
Things finally came to fruition for Frölunda when they managed to secure the equaliser on their 25th shot thanks to a redirection from Max Friberg's skate. The goal was initially reviewed for several minutes to determine if Friberg's skate made a distinct kicking motion, but it ultimately stood, giving the captain his first of the tournament.
The visitors made it a 2-1 contest 1:15 into the final frame with a wrister from the near circle as Noah Hasa beat Fučík far side over the glove for his third of the season. Frölunda then tacked on their third and final tally a few minutes later when Arttu Ruotsalainen skated into a rebound near the hashmarks and rocketed it past the near post.
