- Zurich controlled the game from start to finish
- Tough night for Tychy despite strong effort
- Zurich celebrate first +3 points of the season
ZSC Lions Zurich hosted Polish champions GKS Tychy on Game Day 2 of the Champions Hockey League. Both sides were searching for their first win of the season, but it was Zurich who controlled the game and claimed all three points.
The Swiss set the tone early with relentless offensive pressure. The opening goal came early when Sven Andrighetto sped around the net and attempted a cross-ice pass to Denis Malgin, only for a Tychy defenceman to deflect the puck into his own net.
Zurich kept coming, creating plenty of dangerous chances before doubling their lead late in the period. At 19:20, Rūdolfs Balcers broke in behind the defence, deked Tomáš Fučík wide, and slid a backhand through the pads for 2–0.
The second period followed a similar script, with Zurich dictating play and peppering Tychy’s goaltender. Despite the pressure, only one shot found the back of the net. At 25:05, Mikko Lehtonen joined the rush and ripped a perfect finish under the blocker and inside the far post to extend the lead.
The final frame offered more of the same, with Zurich in control and Tychy struggling to hold them off. Just 20 seconds in, Justin Sigrist added another, giving the Lions a comfortable cushion that carried through to the final buzzer.
Zurich secured their first victory of the campaign in convincing fashion, while Tychy left Switzerland with a heavy defeat despite a battling effort.
