- Per Åslund: 1 goal + 2 assists for Färjestad
- Mitchell Wahl: 1 assist + 6 shots for Banská Bystrica
- Färjestad outshot Banská Bystrica 35-29
Victor Ejdsell's goal with just 20 seconds remaining in overtime gave visiting Färjestad Karlstad a 4-3 victory over HC05 Banská Bystrica, and five of the six head-to-head points between the Group G teams.
Banská Bystrica were coming off a win and Färjestad off a loss, and at first, those forms seemed to continue, as the home team charged out of the gate. Rushing into the Färjestad zone just a minute into the game, Mitchell Wahl sent a pass across to Jordan Hickmott, who fired quickly and beat Arvid Holm inside the post to the blocker side. On a power play later in the first period, Vladimír Mihálik very nearly gave the home side a 2-0 lead when his rocket of a shot had the goalie beat but was just over the crossbar.
After a rather listless first period, Färjestad killed off a penalty at the start of the second period and then came on strong, tying the score five minutes in on a nice individual effort by Sebastian Erixon, who stickhandled through a couple of checks inside the blueline and then fired a low wrister from the high slot that beat a screened Tyler Beskorowany.
After registering only 12 shots on goal over the first 40 minutes, Banská Bystrica killed off the remainder of a penalty at the start of the third period and then went to the attack, regaining the lead at 42:58 when Finn Joona Jääskeläinen picked off an ill-advised pass in the Färjestad zone and quickly fired it home. They had a chance to widen their lead on a power play midway through the period, but Färjestad killed it off and went right to work, with Marcus Nilsson finishing off a nice give-and-go with Per Åslund with 8:28 to go.
The teams then traded goals in the late going. It looked like Patrik Lamper's goal on a delayed penalty with 6:22 to go might be the winner, but Åslund's redirection of Jonathon Blum's point shot with 3:11 to go evened it back up. A four-minute double minor for high-sticking to Linus Johansson with less than three minutes to go and carried into overtime gave Banská Bystrica a golden chance to win it, but they failed to convert. That gave Ejdsell the chance to be the hero at the end and he took it, making a nice move to open Beskorowany's legs and sliding in the winning goal.
