- Redhawks face the winner of EV Zug and Red Bull Munich in the Quarter-Finals
Despite carrying a 4-1 lead into the second leg, the Malmö Redhawks weren't sure of a victory yet, as they faced a trip to Switzerland to take on SC Bern in front of their home crowd, as they looked to mount a huge comeback to keep their Champions Hockey League campaign alive.
Neither side could break the deadlock through the opening 20 minutes of play with both Leonardo Genoni of Bern and Oscar Alsenfelt of the Redhawks blanking the shooters at both ends of the ice.
Bern used their speed to the advantage in the second period, creating a few grade-A scoring chances but unable to find a way past Alsenfelt.
Making his debut for Bern, Zach Boychuk had one of the best chances of the middle period but saw his breakaway attempt turned aside, but Bern looked dangerous throughout the second, but couldn't get enough pucks on net with a few sailing wide or unable to be redirected as they trickled just past a teammates stick.
The best chance of the period, however, came at the other end of the ice as Malmö looked to open the scoring, but despite getting Genoni moving from post to post, they still had to beat the post which denied them to send it into the final period with no score on the board, but still a 4–1 lead on aggregate for the Redhawks.
Bern started the third period strong, enjoying extended periods of play in the offensive zone but still unable to solve Alsenfelt who turned aside 26 shots on the night.
With Malmö cruising to the final buzzer and a place in the next round, they held their ground defensively when Bern pulled the goalie with two-minutes to play, eventually breaking the deadlock as Stefan Warg sent the puck down the ice and into the empty cage for the only goal of the game, with Alsenfelt earning a shutout as the Redhawks took a 5 - 1 victory and a place in the next round.
