Adler Mannheim foiled the French side's first home-ice match with a late goal in the third to down the Bordeaux Boxers 5-4. 

First-period action between these two teams saw the lamp lit several times with six total tallies being accrued before the horn sounded.

Bordeaux's Tommy Giroux got things going early, registering his first of the season three and half minutes into the affair. Fellow Boxer Luke Santerno then notched his first of the season moments later to extend the lead to 2-0. 

But then it was all Mannheim the rest of the way as the Germans went on to rack up four unanswered markers to end the period. 

Matthias Plachta cut the deficit to one less than a minute after Santerno's tuck, and then Patrick Brown banged home the equaliser past Quentin Papillon at 8:38. Down a man midway through the period, Anthony Greco still managed to find twine for Mannheim to give them their first lead of the night. Jérémie Poirier capped off the scoring in the first, but this time with the Germans on the powerplay.

The French came out firing in the second with a goal by Baptiste Bruche just under two minutes into the middle frame. The Germans were caught on their heels and Bordeaux made them pay, cutting the deficit to one goal. 

Then in the third, the hosts took advantage of an excellent opportunity as Bruche converted on a penalty shot. He took his time skating to the outside before turning back to the slot, sliding the puck to his forehand and then between the wickets of Jake Hildebrand to register his third of the campaign and even the derby at 4-4.

Finally, with less than three minutes to play, Kristian Reichel received a smart up-ice pass that sprung him down the far wall where he skated in and roofed it shortside over the glove of Papillon to return the lead to the visitors.

The French attempted a comeback for a second time, but the Germans' defence did its job to earn Mannheim their second win of the season.
