- Pföderl with two goals on the night
- Berlin scored three goals in the first period
- First win of the season for the Germans
It took some time, but Game Day 3 of the 2026/27 Champions Hockey League season finally saw the Eisbären Berlin we know return! A statement win against visitors Graz99ers in front of a charming and charismatic crowd in the Wellblechpalast gives the reigning DEL champions their first win of the season and a crucial +3 points.
Berlin entered this game all guns blazing, scoring three in the opening period. Leonhard Pföderl was first to get up on the board and Markus Vikingstad followed some 10 minutes later with a lovely blast on net following some hectic Graz defending. In the final minute of the first period, Pföderl made it a 3-0 game as the Germans left the ice with a smile.
The second period started slowly but a Berlin penalty offered the visitors from Austria a PP and they didn't hesitate - Christopher Collins netted the goal to make it a 3-1 game.
Early into the final frame, Berlin found the back of the net again to make it 4-1 and that lasted until the final buzzer, with some late skirmishes between the two teams leading to penalties and delaying the end of the game somewhat.
