- Eisbären get first road win to end group third
- Grodno had taken the lead on 26 minutes
- End of the CHL season for both team
Eisbären Berlin won their first road game of this Champions Hockey League season to beat Neman Grodno in Belarus, and avoid finishing last in their group overall.
The visitors got a fantastic start in a well-attended Grodno Arena, Daniel Fischbuch with the go-ahead marker with only 1:09 gone. The home side levelled things up just over ten minutes later, a breakaway allowing Sergei Malyavko to go in on Max Franzreb and score.
Neman took the lead with 25:56 gone in the game, Nikita Orlov making the home fans very happy indeed. That joy was cancelled out ten minutes later through Brendan Ranford in the LGT Top Scorer jersey. The final period belonged to Die Eisbären, however, with Sean Backman and Michael DuPont scoring inside the final nine minutes to secure them the win.
