- Lausanne took home three points from third win in a row
- Ken Jäger scored an empty-netter
- Lausanne outshot Fehérvár 63-48
Lausanne HC travelled to Hungary for their fourth game of the Champions Hockey League season, this time facing off against Fehérvár AV19. Both teams were determined, with Fehérvár seeking their first win of the campaign and Lausanne aiming to strengthen their leaderboard position.
The first period saw no goals, but Lausanne applied early pressure, especially during a powerplay from a tripping call at 4:45. Despite several goal-scoring chances, the Hungarian defence stood firm, killing off the penalty. Fehérvár had their own powerplay opportunity later after an interference call at 15:46, but they too were unable to capitalise, leaving the game scoreless after twenty minutes of play.
The second period began rather slowly, but then Fehérvár started gaining momentum and generating more shots. However, Lausanne regained control midway through, and at 35:51, Damien Riat broke the deadlock, taking advantage of a powerplay after a hooking call to put the visitors up 1-0. Lausanne continued to press, but couldn't add to their lead before the period ended.
The third period was tense, with both teams battling for control. Janne Kuokkanen doubled Lausanne's lead with a backhand shot, making it 2-0. Fehérvár responded quickly through Csanád Erdély, narrowing the gap to 2-1. The home team fought hard to equalise, even pulling their goalie in the final minutes, but the risk backfired when Ken Jäger scored an empty-netter, sealing the 3-1 victory for Lausanne.
With this win, Lausanne secured another three points, while Fehérvár continue their search for a breakthrough this season.
