- Irving registers 97% SVS
- Bolzano take OT wins to two
- Carozza scores timely first CHL goal
Bobbling pucks, wild slapshots and miscued efforts plagued a shootout between these two sides which was finally ended by Massimo Carozza, who was the twelfth shooter.
The fixture took a while to get going as both teams struggled to create any clear-cut chances on even strength. Luckily there were enough powerplay chances for each team to capitalise on, including the home side who opened the scoring in the second period. A blue line wrister from Teemu Eronen, which travelled through traffic, was enough to beat Irving, who put up another solid performance for the Foxes. The visitors levelled the feisty affair 10 minutes later via a powerplay goal of their own when Ivan Deluca picked up a rebound right in front of net, forcing it home through the five-hole of Engren. The win means Bolzano miss out on the top spot via goal difference while a point keeps Helsinki within distance of the Italians and their Scandinavian neighbours.
