- Carlsson nets two goals
- Indians come from behind to win
- Johan Gustafsson saves 94.12% of shots
If you'd have asked Frölunda Head Coach Roger Rönnberg before this game what his perfect road scenario would have been, chances are he'd have said to leave Brno with a three-goal lead.
That's exactly what his side got as they beat Kometa 4-1 in the Czech Republic. The hosts actually went ahead in the game, despite Frölunda offering more of the pressure in the early stages. Bedřich Köhler pounced on a rebound to put his side ahead just before the ten minute mark. Frölunda were though level by the end of the period, Patrik Carlsson netting 27 seconds from the end to tie things up.
Taking out the period break, in game time it was a disastrous 44 seconds for the home side, who then fell behind to Carlsson's second of the game. Then Kometa were somewhat unlucky - thinking they'd scored at one end, play continued until the next whistle. Unfortunately for the home side, that whistle was when Mats Rosseli-Olsen put the puck in at the other end. After video review, the chance for Kometa was confirmed as no goal, and the hosts found them selves 3-1 down with just over 27 minutes played.
Kometa then ran into penalty trouble and were punished as Chay Genoway converted to make it 4-1 as the Indians played with a two-man advantage. That score held through the final period to give Frölunda a three-goal head start when the teams meet again next week.
