- Kärpät top group by four points
- Bern next, but could be overtaken by Skellefteå later tonight
- Tuukka Tieksola scored the winning penalty shot
An almost Playoff-like game in Bern saw Kärpät Oulu skate away with a shootout win, avenging their overtime loss to the Swiss side a week ago.
With the intensity there from the very off, it was the home side that made the better start - a Topi Niemelä penalty allowed Bern a man advantage, and Simon Moser poked home to get the ball rolling. Michael Krištof was on hand from close range to tie things up just past the halfway mark of the game, and for the next half an hour it was action each way as both sides went for the win.
With both sides taking a point as the game went to overtime, Niklas Schlegel pulled off a fantastic diving save to Jussi Jokinen the winning goal. Moments later it was the goal post that saved Bern, as they managed to hold on into the shootout.
However Kärpät wouldn't be denied, and Tieksola's goal for the visitors in Round 4 won it for them after the home side failed to find the target at all.
