- First defeat of season for Yunost
- Lausanne win home opener thanks to shorthanded goal
- Hosts go a point clear at top of group
Lausanne HC went top of Group D with a win against Yunost Minsk in their first ever home Champions Hockey League match. After losing in Minsk, the onus was on the home team to get all three points and claw themselves back into contention for the Playoffs.
Tyler Moy helped them do just that, giving his side the lead at 15:31. Lukas Frick doubled that advantage on the powerplay just shy of 24 seconds into period two, but Minsk, who have never won away in the CHL, pulled a goal back as Maxim Maltsev converted to halve the deficit just 56 seconds later.
A blocked shot allowed Lausanne a 2-on-1 rush from which Dustin Jeffrey set up Joel Vermin to make it 3-1 shorthanded at 34:21, giving the home side some breathing room. Minsk however did make their Swiss opponents sweat in the final few minutes. Vsevolod Kashkar netted with just over seven minutes to go, but the Lausanne held firm as they saw out the game giving up 16 shots in the entire 60 minutes.
