- Pardubice played a relentless game on the forecheck
- Tappara unable to solve scoring woes
- Czechs netted three in the middle frame
Another multi-goal effort, including three goals in the second period, from Czech challengers Dynamo Pardubice propelled them to their second win on the season as they took down Tappara Tampere 5-1. It was another dominating performance from the Czech side as they've now secured 12 tallies while only giving up one through 120 minutes of hockey.
Pardubice once again found themselves up a goal when Martin Kaut scored at 10:30 to give the hosts the edge. The Czech side's leading scorer received a pass in neutral ice before powering his way down the right wing and firing it stick-side past Juha Metsola.
The hosts got to work in the second period, eventually putting a stranglehold on the contest as they would go on to find twine three more times, including a short-handed tally.
Tomáš Zohorna started things off when he secured his first of the campaign on the penalty kill as he one-timed a pass from between the hash marks. Lukáš Radil then made it 3-0 on the powerplay when he rocketed one from the right circle off a feed from the point. Three minutes later, Lukáš Sedlák made a move in close as he guided the puck past Metsola to register his third goal in two games.
Despite being down by four, the Finns couldn't find a sustained offensive presence in the final period as Pardubice continued to hem them in their own zone.
This pressure would eventually pay off when Robert Kousal manoeuvered his way to the front of the net where he slid one through the pads of the Tappara netminder to make it a 5-0 contest at the 46:23 minute mark.
Tappara would eventually get on the board on the powerplay with a goal by Julius Mattila. A fortuitous bounce in the crease gave the Finns some life with just under seven minutes to play.
But this would be the only time they lit the lamp as Pardubice's tenacious forecheck never waivered even as they held a four-goal advantage heading into the final seconds. Consequently, the Czechs would go on to win once again in convincing fashion while Tappara suffered their first loss.
