Red Bull Salzburg got their first win of the Champions Hockey League season, 3-0 over still winless Bílí Tygři Liberec. Atte Tolvanen made 21 saves for the shutout and Mario Huber recorded two points.

With Liberec on the game’s first powerplay, Salzburg managed to gain possession of the puck in their own zone and Luca Christopher Auer cleared the puck for Huber, who received the pass in full flight inside the Liberec zone and beat Petr Kváča with a low shot to the glove side.

Tomáš Filippi had a golden chance to tie it for Liberec late in the first period, skating in alone but Tolvanen snared his backhander with the catching mitt.

Both teams had chances in the middle frame but Kváča and Tolvanen continued to stand tall. Early in the third period, Tolvanen robbed Filippi for a second time.

A Liberec penalty with just under seven minutes to play allowed Salzburg to take two precious minutes off the clock. After the expiration of the penalty, Salzburg maintained possession of the puck and Adam Brooks gave his team a 2-0 lead with 3:37 to go, beating Kváča through the five-hole after taking a pass from Huber.

Kváča was pulled for a sixth skater with over three minutes to play, which led to a Peter Schneider empty-netter with 2:12 to play.
